With all, the existing hive removed, and the tied combs in place in the box, the beekeeper then can grab as many bees as possible and put them in the hive. On a flat surface, like a wall or box, it is possible to use a piece of cardboard as a squeegee. With the terrain being as rough as it is here, the beekeeper is left trying to herd the bees in using smoke.
